March Calendar Girls

Ok, so I'm late, again?  The 28th slipped away from me, and by the time I realized it was "posting" day, I was away from home, my card and my computer.  If only my phone would allow me to post on my blog, but it's stubborn and won't let me post my pictures through my phone :(  This month we had to make a card with NO designer paper.  Not a huge challenge, I have lots of stamps, lots of different color inks, should be a piece of cake.  I thought of using one of my many background stamps, but I really wanted to put this Taylored Expressions die to work.  Tami also said to "use whatcha got".  I won this last fall during a release party and though I've put it through the die machine a few times, this is the first actual card.  I've made it for my husband's grandmother who turns 85 next Tuesday.

Penny Black - Mimi in Paris

I could not get a good picture of my card, so after several tries, here it is.  I made a card very similar to this at a shoebox swap a few years back using the Eiffel Tower from a SU stamp set, but thought I could make it work for Barb's Penny Black/Whipper Snapper swap.  The stamp is from the clear set of Mimi in Paris, which I love, but I have used my Mimi's in Barb's previous swaps (she has them often, maybe even every season, because this is for her Spring swap).  So I tried to go for a more "grown up" look.

The dp is from SU Festival of Prints, with Early Espresso, Cherry Cobler and crumb cake.

Round 15 Mystery Image Swap

Carol was our hostess this round and her images were this witty set of women.  I'm really excited to see what the others have done with their image and can't wait to see what Melina has in store for us for round 16.

Get Well Kitty

I made this card for Barb's Whipper Snapper swap.  It's a sad little kitty not feeling so hot, so I put a little floral in the background to cheer her up.  The background paper is SU Beyond the Garden and Pacific Point accents.

Sisterhood Mar/Apr

I'm a little ahead of the game with this one swap.  I made them as soon as I saw the theme.    I know it say's "What's Cookin', Sistah" and you might think popscicles aren't cooking, but in my house, we make our own with a Zoku pop maker.
Our host this time is Jeanette aka Forest Ranger.  What a fun idea she came up with.  This is what she asked us to do.
For your cards this round, I’d like you to go with a cooking, food, recipe theme. You can put an actual recipe on/in your card, if you’d like, but you don’t’ have to. You can use a chef or food stamp/image. Your card can be all about Pizza or Coffee or Burgers Grilling on the Grill. It can be about Cupcakes or Caramel Apples or Ice Cream Treats. (I could go on and on. ) You can use designer papers of cooking utensils or food items. You can add apple brads or teacup charms. You can use recycled kitchen items on your card - bread clips, mesh from apple bags, cardboard from cracker boxes, etc. The ideas are almost limitless.

I've had the fruit ribbon for................a few years. A bargin find at Michael's a while back. The popscicle is from SU Mouthwatering. I stamped in matching ink and punched out the popscicle sticks with the word window punch.

Thanks for stopping by.

Calendar Girls - February

A little late with my post, couldn't get a good picture in the nighttime darkness.  I still had a hard time getting descent pictures in the light of day, but here it is.  It was Kelly's turn to host.  The theme.......Share the Love.  You had to create a card that was about something that you love.  Well, papercrafting, of course.  But, I needed another so I took my second love, Sewing.  I am the daughter of and early 1960's old fashioned Home Ec teacher.  Though my mom only taught for 4 years in the school system, she has used her education throughout her everyday life.  Sewing is a huge love for her.  She uses her sewing machine almost daily.  I've been sewing projects for as long as I can remember, though my mom has always been there to help out when needed.  As my kids have grown up, I've given her my "requests" for outfits and such and gotten her assistance with projects of my own.  Two years ago I decided it was time to get back into sewing and not just watch my sewing machine collect dust.  My mom and I joined a quilt block club at our local sewing store.  Now my mom knows how to do all this stuff, but I don't.  So it's been a fun mother/daughter club that I hope continues for many more years.

The front stamp of the pincushion is from Hot off the Press and a gift from my friend, Barb that I've been wiating for some time to put it to use.  I added some real pins and found a sewing set of buttons by Jesse James with a shiny thimble button.  I cut out the spool of thread and wrapped thread around.  I will definitely be using that stamp many times.  It's so fun to embellish.

The other stamps are from SU Sew Suite and SU designer paper with the little girl being a rub on.  I'm a little addicted to the line.  I've got a few packs of the paper, about 10 sets of the fabric (when it was $1 and it kept showing up in the clearance bin) the stamps, the rub ons, the fabric covered buttons and  the scrapbook.  So you might see this stuff again.  Thanks for stopping by and thank you Kelly for being such a great hostess with a wonderful theme.
